Saltillo Tile
All of our sealed Saltillo tiles are sealed here in the U.S- by us- using only safe federally approved sealers- Sealers with federaly required Safety Data Sheets (SDS). All our tile arrives cooked but unsealed and we seal to customer's exact specifications using only proven, American made, long-lasting and safe sealers. None of our products contain any lead whatsoever.
Please keep in mind that all our Saltillo are authentic handmade Saltillo tile and there can and will be size variance. A larger than 1/4 inch grout line will be required to accomodate this variance. This is why Saltillo installations have a larger grout line. If you attempt to use a 1/4 inch grout line some tiles may touch. We generally recommend a 3/8 inch grout joint MINIMUM. We also do NOT recommend soaking your Saltillos in water before installation. With modern installation materials, there is absolutely no need for this and only makes the installation significantly more difficult.

Manganese Saltillo is a rare handcrafted Saltillo Tile. Due the the very high manganese content of the clay the color becomes a beautiful chocolate brown throughout the entire tile. Manganese Saltillo is made in exactly the same molds and by the same artisans as our other Saltillo tiles the only difference is the amount of Manganese present in the clay.

Rustic or Distressed Saltillo Tile is a True Authentic Handcrafted Saltillo Tile that has gone through extra processes to work the face of the Saltillo into a texture that looks a century old right out of the box. If you are looking for very rustic and authentic then look no further. Perfect anywhere in your home or for outdoor patios and around pool areas that may become slippery when wet. This tile has the added benefit of having very good grip when wet due to the surface grain cast into the tile. Very beautiful and rugged looking. This tile extremely similar to so called " French Reclaimed Tile." The major difference is that this authentic handmade terracotta tile is about 90% cheaper but equal or better quality and we offer the option to custom finish your tile to your specifications.

Saltillo Stair Copings. Can be stained just as all other Saltillo tiles. 12inch. Also used often around any exposed edge of a Saltillo floor because the rounded nose hides the endcut. These tile give and incedible finished look.

San Felipe (9x12) and the smaller 6inch Flor DeLiz are unique Saltillo tiles. They can be used to produce a pattern by themselves or mixed together to create what is called the Riviera pattern. The picture above shows both shapes mixed together and stained.

We stock only the highest quality Solvent (oil) Based Saltillo tile sealer available. We have tested many samples sent to us by manufacturers and this product stands out. Our sealer is specifically formulated for use on Saltillo tile- indoors and out. This sealer is what we use in all of our installations and it is also the sealer we use for all pre-sealed Saltillo orders shipped to our customers throughout the country- we use what we sell. It is tried and tested. Our sealer is a safe, American made product with a federally required Safety Data Sheet. Our sealers contain ZERO lead.
